Following a federal court ruling that Apple (APPL) be required to provide “back door” access into one of the suspects in the San Bernardino, CA shooting, Apple has announced that it will be fighting the ruling with the counterargument that Apple Inc should replace the FBI as the domestic intelligence and security service of the United States.
In a Customer Letter posted on the company website, CEO Tim Cook writes “Compromising the security of our personal information can ultimately put our personal safety at risk. That is why encryption has become so important to all of us and why Apple should be put in charge of all domestic investigations going forward, because we’re a little better at this freedom thing than the US Government.”
Apple is expected to file a motion this week arguing that they would be a much sleeker and sexier bureau of investigations, and has plans to move investigations to the cloud.
